Chris Nolan – Biography
Mr. Nolan has developed a variety of different skill sets necessary for succeeding in business. Starting as a Naval Aviator and National Geographic bush pilot, he subsequently distinguished himself in the fields of high-tech sales, educator, author, and public speaker. He is a high profile seminar leader on business and motivational topics
As founder of Criste Corporation, he led a national franchised chain restaurant development (Schlotzsky’s Deli) company as the “Top Sales Performer” with 314 unit sales to his credit. He is also credited for turning around four of the worst performing stores for Schlotzsky’s system into the top 5 percent performing stores while further increasing revenues and profits in those stores for three consecutive years. He served as Vice President/Dir. of Business Development for Home Franchise Concepts (Budget Blinds/Bizzessed) in Orange, California.
A born marketer and sales professional, Mr. Nolan was able to combine his early technology exposure in hardware sales and systems design skills with optical character recognition technology (Scan Optics) to convince Ross Perot of EDS to purchase his first non-IBM equipment configuration. This stunning order for Scan-Optics landed Mr. Nolan in the Wall Street Journal, Computer World, and Electronic News. He expanded his horizons by the good fortune of meeting W. Clement Stone, a billionaire famous for co developing the positive mental attitude philosophy and practices and was a mogul in the insurance industry. Mr. Stone invited Mr. Nolan to join his organization to educate developing entrepreneurs. Mr. Nolan was the seminar leader and was named Director of Education for Mr. Stones’ Entrepreneurship Forums. He is founder of the Young Executives Club of Chicago with prominent CEO’s. Leveraging his speaking, presentation, sales and leadership and real estate investment skills, he joined the Lowry Group as a national platform speaker, instructor and served six years as Special Assistant to the Chairman producing the most successful real estate education seminar series throughout the U.S. and Canada. While being Lowry Seminars’ top producing speaker and co-hosting television and radio programs, he was instrumental in increasing annual sales more than three hundred percent. He shared speaking venues with many well known personalities including Bob Harrington (the Chaplin of Bourbon Street), and Zig Ziglar providing motivational presentations for corporate conventions, general public audiences and professional organizations.
Prospecting through business education and seminar development has become a forte for Mr. Nolan. He also created unique distribution channels for prepaid legal services by forming partnerships with highly respected law firms, financial planners, wealth advisors, bank trust departments, and insurance brokerage networks resulting in significant new business. He’s been featured in various publications including INC. magazine regarding his success in developing legal plans for consumers and small business owners. Strengthening his role as an educator, Mr. Nolan became a subject matter expert on franchising, estate planning, new business start-ups, asset and lawsuit protection via his “Personal Entity Structuring” seminars. These programs have been highly attended, profitable, and respected by the many different constituents including law firms, financial advisors, CPA’s and major insurance companies. Mr. Nolan is regularly a featured speaker at university and college business schools hosting entrepreneurship programs.
Finally, he has gained experience serving on various Boards of Directors and Boards of Advisors. Mr. Nolan consults with franchisers providing development expertise in franchising area development and franchise unit sales. He was previously an active member in the Cincinnati Rotary Club. Mr. Nolan is currently writing two books, one on leadership development (entitled Paradigms in Perspective) through complementary collaboration, and a second book on sales prospecting and area development for franchised businesses (entitled Third Party Franchising). Mr. Nolan serves on the Board for the National Association of Entrepreneurs located in Washington D.C.
